The Kuhlken-Osterberg family has done it again! The creators of one of the state’s most award winning wineries, Pedernales Cellars located in Stonewall, Texas, have opened up a second tasting room for their lighter-spirited winery Armadillo’s Leap. Winemaker David Kulhken has claimed the new label is an experiment, but we don’t see this brand going anywhere but UP!
The original Armadillo’s Leap opened on “Rocky Hill” Hwy 290 just outside Fredericksburg. The AL tasting room is housed in a traditional German log cabin and boasts a modern rustic minimalist interior. Armadillo’s Leap No. 2 can now be found in the busy downtown of Fredericksburg at 134 E. Main Street. Small and quaint, the second tasting room is a great spot to stop while shopping and have a tasting or sip one of their trendy mixed concoctions.

Armadillo’s Leap winery scores medals for all of its wines submitted to the San Francisco International Wine Competition. The biggest win is for the already well medalled BFF Blend, which romped home with a Double Gold. The 2015 Texas Muscat and 2014 Texas Mourvedre showed well receiving Silvers, and the 2015 Texas Viognier garnered a Bronze.
