A Texas Obsession! Couples are trying something new recently and its catching on with friends and family…local Texas wine. Whether visiting tasting rooms in their area or ordering bottles online, trying new Texas wines has become something of a hot trend for couples in their late 20s all the way to mid 60s be it weekly, monthly, or any chance they get!

Matt Jennings from Austin shared his experience with Texas Wine and Trail, “We turned our pizza night into wine night. It’s fun and we’ve been doing it for a couple months now. You can order a bottle online for about the same as a pizza and beer…the pizza just falls flat in comparison. Jamie and I get excited about our newest find, I’ll text her a winery name and she’ll order and ship the bottle to our house, or we pick a winery close by to visit. We have a lot to learn about Texas wine, but its something that we can do together which seems to be rare for couples these days.”  We love this idea!

Texas Wine: Get Into It

Want to discover Texas wine as a couple?  Find wineries near you in our Directory and visit their websites for hours, tasting fees, and driving directions. Most wineries have monthly event calendars full of live music, special pairings, even local art shows.  Visiting a winery together is a great way for couples to learn more about Texas wine by asking direct questions to the tasting room host.  You may even get to meet the winemaker or take a tour while your there.

Buying Wine Online

The wide availability of Texas wines now online has opened the doors to wineries you would otherwise have to drive across the state to experience.  Almost all wineries in Texas now have their wines available for purchase on their website, but they would still love to have you visit their tasting room someday!  As a couple, you may want to try a new Texas Tempranillo, or a Malbec.  A lot of couples are realizing that Texas makes great wine, and are choosing to keep their dollars in the state.  “We have very strong beliefs about supporting the local economy, so buying wine from our state makes drinking it even more enjoyable knowing we’re doing just that,” Jamie comments “Matt and I entertain often and our friends are always excited to hear about our latest Texas wine night.  I know several of them are starting to get into it as well, so we’re planning a Texas Wine party this May.”

Couples Therapy

“Wine is one of the most civilized things in the world and one of the most natural things of the world that has been brought to the greatest perfection, and it offers a greater range for enjoyment and appreciation than, possibly, any other purely sensory thing.” Ernest Hemingway. The health benefits of wine are well established and promoted, but what about the other benefits?  Laughter. Learning. The romance of a shared bottle.  Wine is something that can be savored over conversation or intensely analyzed and scored, but above all wine is meant to be enjoyed.  Texas Wine and Trail encourages you to embody the pioneer spirit our state is known for and start discovering Texas wine together.  With over 270 licensed wineries, and more opening their doors every day, you have a lot of tasting to do!
