What’s all the sizzle about the Texas Steak Cookoff?


From the Food Network to Texas Monthly to Rachel Ray Magazine, people are talking about the Texas Steak Cookoff. As the largest steak cookoff in the Southwest, it draws people from all over the US into the little town of Hico, Texas. If you are looking for a weekend getaway in May, the cookoff is tough to beat.


Event Overview

The 10th Annual Texas Steak Cookoff starts at 10:00 am on “The Third Saturday in May”, in the Historic Downtown Business District of Hico, Texas. This family friendly event offers artisan vendors, local shopping, and of course, a chance to look on as backyard chefs from all over the Southwest compete to see who cooks the best steak in Texas. In addition, enjoy live entertainment for the whole family all day and into the evening. There will also be a wine tasting featuring local Texas wineries that will go on during the event.
