Kiepersol Vineyards & Winery has received the nod for “Top Texas Winery” at The 2017 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo International Wine Competition. Proprietor and Winemaker Marnelle Durrett shared, “We carefully craft our wines to be comfortable to drink and have catered to what our customers love for years so we are grateful that the industry recognizes these efforts. My dad’s distinct palate helped create each of the wines that received awards. Sadly we lost him at the beginning of this year, but we feel that our guardian angel has guided our steps this year and he would be so proud of the wine production team.”
This is one of the largest competitions in the world with over 2,850 entries from 20 different countries. Texas wineries represented 351 of the entries. In addition to the Top Texas Winery honor which receives a coveted saddle award, Kiepersol received the following medals:
Double Gold – 2010 Barrel No. 33 (Class Champion – Texas Class Champion)
Gold – 2011 Mengsel (Texas Class Champion)
Gold – 2013 Syrah (Texas Class Champion)
Silver – 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon (Texas Class Champion)
Silver – 2012 Artize (Texas Class Champion)

All champion wines will be paired with dishes from top chefs at the Rodeo Uncorked! Roundup and Best Bites Competition, Sunday February 26, and sold at the Rodeo Uncorked! Champion Wine Auction and Dinner Sunday, March 5, 2017.
