PEDERNALES CELLARS TO CELEBRATE RELEASE OF NEW VIOGNIER RESERVE, WINNER OF GRAND GOLD AWARD IN RECENT FRENCH COMPETITION, ON FRIDAY, MAY 17

Pedernales Cellars will celebrate the release of its 2012 Viognier Reserve – which won a Grand Gold Award (the French equivalent of a Double Gold) at last month’s Lyon International Wine Competition – with a special tasting event at the winery on Friday, May 17 from 4-6 p.m.

The tasting – which will allow winery visitors the chance to taste the award-winning white wine paired with Brie – marks the first opportunity to buy this particular vintage in the winery. Pre-orders are available via the Pedernales Cellars website or by calling the winery, and initial orders will go out early the week of May 20. The Viognier Reserve is expected to sell out, due to limited production and the keen interest in the wine.

Though the Grand Gold award marks a watershed moment for Pedernales Cellars, it’s not the most recent award the winery’s won. Last week, the Sunset International Wine Competition announced the winery’s 2011 Block One – a blend of Tempranillo, Mourvedre, and Grenache – was the only Texas wine to win a Gold Medal. Block One is also currently on sale in the winery’s tasting room.
