Weimar, TX, May 16, 2015 – The Weimary is known in the area for great wine and signature labels. On the front of each bottle in antique sepia tones are family members of the owners, Suesanne and Patrick Gibson, or local folks with ties to the vineyard’s land. Their newest wine, “First Lady”, is a German style Gewürztraminer and will feature Pearl Hill (Sparks) Kindred of Weimar, who, in 1892, was best known as being the ‘first lady banker in the State of Texas’. This nod to Weimar’s past and heritage will benefit the future of Weimar’s historical preservation. Fifteen percent of the proceeds from each bottle will go back to The Heritage Society Museum of Weimar. For Suesanne and Patrick, giving back was something that they are honored to do:
“We want to support the museum, because we believe that community comes first. History is such a huge part of what we do and is the heart of life in a small town.”
The wine will officially be released to the public for The Weimary’s third anniversary on May 23rd when they kick off their Summer Music Series with live music from 4:00-7:00 pm. Founding Board Member Karen Beken assisted Sue with obtaining a picture for the label and is excited to see a part of the town’s past being given a new life.
“The Museum appreciates The Weimary, and we are thrilled to embark on this new partnership that focuses on the positive history of women’s roles in Weimar.” – Karen Beken
