Westcave Cellars hopes that you will come help celebrate this special inaugural event, Saturday, May 6, 1-4 p.m. Allamar, the first vintage in their artist series, is a limited production Bordeaux-style blend. With only two barrels produced (50 cases and 12 magnums), guests will be offered complimentary tastes on this day only.
Glasses and bottles will be available for purchase with food paired by Homespun Kitchen & Bar & live music by the Jay Webber Band (percussive acoustic guitar with j azz, blues, folk & Latin influences). Featured label artist, Robin Hegemier, will also display her artwork and sign bottles.
Westcave Cellars is offering wine club members, Cellar Dwellers, the first opportunity to purchase Allamar starting Wednesday, May 3. Because of the small case production, members will be limited to a six-bottle order. Link to website >
This wine is built for cellaring and will improve with time.
“Allamar embodies the Westcave Cellars’ Story—A love of hard work, a love of wine, a dedication to family and friends, and an enduring faith.”
Aromatic blackberry & Luxardo cherry liqueur lead the nose, layered with cassis & tobacco leaf. Followed by dark chocolate tannins that lend a formidable structure to the bright, youthful fruit tones and hints of eucalyptus. The finish shows drying tannins melded with a chalky minerality. Its very sturdy structure shows a wine that is built for aging. Not nearly at its peak, it is very enjoyable now with a recommended decanting, or will continue to evolve over the next 10-15 years.
Food recommendations: Venison sausage, grilled beef ribeye, savory mushroom tart, or rich cheeses, like a brie or camembert.
RSVP is encouraged, but not required.
