Owners Howard and Angela Moenchs’ personal commitment to innovation and detail are apparent in the outstanding wines produced. The wines are aged for 18 months in French oak, ensuring the highest quality. The winery’s other great asset is its architecture of massive limestone blocks.

Wine is about the shared pleasures of life — slowing down long enough to appreciate the blessings of the land while enjoying local food and wine with friends, family and community. And that’s where we began. In July 2010, Mike McHenry and a group of friends met to talk about starting a new winery in Texas. With the Hill Country region emerging as one of the hottest new wine and tourist destinations in the US, and with Texas wineries continuing to grow at double-digit rates, the group decided to go forward with their vision to establish a destination winery in the heart of small town Texas.

After multiple trips to the California wine country, we became interested in growing grapes. It wasn’t long before we started a test plot of 30 vines behind the house in our neighborhood. It took hours of exhausting work to chisel out rocks for the fence posts, trellis system, and vines, but we loved the challenges. Each day we made a little progress and toasted our success with a glass of wine. We eventually mastered the terrain and succeeded in building that small vineyard.
